New features of the Spotify streams count
Spotify pays royalties for non-musical content (noise, nature sounds, etc.) at a reduced rate. At the same time, in order for a sound recording to bring royalties at all, its duration must exceed two minutes. Spotify sends us reports on such tracks — the reports indicate the number of streams for which no royalties are paid.
Spotify also pays royalties for a track if it has reached 1,000 listens from at least 50 unique listeners in the previous 12 months. Spotify sends reports on tracks that have not reached the threshold and indicates the number of streams for which the artist will not receive royalties due to this policy.
